Monash and MSDI provide generous scholarships that support high-quality doctoral candidates conducting impactful research aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Whether you’re applying with your own proposal or joining a project already developed by Monash supervisors, you’ll be considered for:
- Monash University Research Scholarships
- MSDI Co-Funded Scholarships
- Australian Government RTP (Research Training Program) Scholarships
Each scholarship covers:
- Full tuition fees
- Living allowance (stipend)
- Relocation allowance (for international students)
- Access to professional development programs
- Research support and fieldwork funding (case-by-case).
Eligibility Criteria
These PhD scholarships are open to both domestic and international students who:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree with honours (H1) or equivalent
- Have a strong academic record and relevant research experience
- Can demonstrate a clear commitment to sustainability research
- Are able to develop or contribute to innovative research projects
Applicants submitting their own project proposals are encouraged, as are those applying for invited supervisor-led research projects listed by MSDI.

Application Deadline
