The Institute for Advanced Study (IAS), one of the world’s most intellectually distinguished research communities, has just unveiled its 2026–2027 Call for Applications for its prestigious School of Social Science Fellowship Program. This is your once-in-a-lifetime shot to walk the same halls once trodden by Albert Einstein himself.
Each year, only around 20 scholars are chosen globally to become “Members” of the Institute—a title that brings with it unmatched academic prestige, resources, and interdisciplinary freedom. And the best part? There’s no rigid academic mold. Whether you’re an economist, political theorist, anthropologist, or social historian, if you’re shaking up ideas in the social sciences, this could be your ticket in.
Spotlight Theme 2026–2027: Emerging Forces in Political Economy
If your research speaks to shifting dynamics in global economies, political institutions, or societal transformations, this theme is calling your name. But don’t worry—half of the selected scholars will work outside the theme, so maverick thinkers in any area of the social sciences are encouraged to apply.
